Working as a Fence Installer

automated gatesThe variety of automatic gate is now greater than ever but how they are installed and by who affects how dependable they will be in the future. There are of course many companies that can install automatic gates for you professionally and finding the right company and gate style for you is where you need to start.

First you would be best thinking about the style of gate you want there are many to choose from and below is a list of just a few;

  • Swing gates – These gates are powered by hydraulic arms to open and close them. They are very popular in places such as high class residence as they can have very dramatic designs. Also if they are installed and maintained properly they can run fault free for many years so are very dependable.
  • Lifting arm gates – These kinds of gate are usually seen in environments such as car parks or industrial building entrances. They have a very simple design and work through one hydraulic arm lifting the gate up instead of it swinging open like other styles of gate.
  • Sliding gates – These are a popular option with those that may not have as much space as those that can have a swing gate. They provide a great amount of security and are often used by companies that have large entrances that need to be secured.

Before having an automatic gate installed there are some steps you will have to follow for preparing the brickwork etc. before the gate being fitted. Some of these different steps include;

  • electric gatesBrickwork box - This will have to be done by the person installing the gate as you would need to know the exact measurements of where the arms are going to sit in the wall. A brickwork box is just a gap made in the bricks for the arms to slot into when the gate opens. Before they started using brickwork boxes the gate would open but the arms would hit the brickwork and prevent the gates from opening completely.
  • There may need to be posts erected for the gate if there is no wall and if so the posts will require foundations. All the person would need to do is dig out foundations for the posts and set the posts in the holes with concrete so they are completely secure. Before digging these they would also need to find out about things such as utility systems etc. that may be running under ground in that area.

Automatic gates are extremely easy to use and are very reliable especially if you have a professional fit the gate for you.
